What is the 400?

The 400 is a select group designed to raise up leaders in the body of Christ. The 400 is designed to equip you with the tools you need to be leaders and arm you with the weapons of warfare to stand in victory against the enemy.

Whether you are newly saved, or have been serving God for many years, there is something for you in The 400.

The 400 is a six month commitment that will bring you to a new level in Christ; and is designed to be the pathway to leadership in the Upper Room. You will be given many great spiritual and practical insights applicable to church leadership and every other part of your life. This is not just a nice internship about telling you how we do things, this kind if intensive discipleship format will challenge you and equip you for leadership in any ministry. The teachings and format of the 400 discipleship group is time tested and proven to be one of the most powerful and effective ways of training up leaders in a short amount of time.

All 400 meetings are led by the Upper Room's senior Pastor Steve Foss. Pastor Steve has specialized in discipleship throughout the his 20+ years of ministry and is internationally known for the success and power of the schools of ministry he has led around the world. The teachings and applications of principles he shares in the 400 have been meticulously examined and refined by many leaders over the years making this course one of the most vastly proven courses in the world. Few discipleship courses have the proven record of success and biblical accuracy than that of the Armed for War Discipleship Course that is taught in the 400.

The 400 Ten Commandments

The 400 Ten Commandments is a set of mandatory rules to be followed by ALL members of the 400 throughout the entirety of the six month commitment.

1) Six month commitment

  • The 400 meets for 8 Sunday nights in sequence and then once a month for the remainder of the six months after that.
  • ALL 400 meetings will be held on Sunday nights at 5:30-7PM with prayer immediately afterwards from 7-8PM.
  • ALL members of the 400 will have a serving job in the church during the entirety of their six month commitment; serving at least once a week.

2) Discipleship Course

  • Everyone is required to complete the Armed for War Discipleship Course during the course of the 400; specific dates will be given for each 400 group. The Discipleship Course is available online for free at www.stevefoss.com. If you do into have internet access at home a hardcopy of the course will be loaned to you.

3) Music and Movies

  • NO 400 MEMBER will be allowed to listen to secular pop/rap/oldies/rock/etc. music during their commitment to the 400.
  • NO 400 MEMBER will be allowed to watch "R" rated movies and all members must avoid other movies/TV shows with "questionable" content (foul language, sexual content etc). We recommend using www.pluggedinonline.com for Christian movie reviews to avoid "surprises".

4) Accountability Partners

  • Each member of the 400 will have an accountability partner
  • Accountability partners will be assigned to you the second week of the 400
  • Accountability partners are expected to help, support, encourage and follow to with each other to make sure the other is following through on every area of commitment.

5) Complaints, Questioning, Murmuring and Sedition

  • There will be NO complaining, griping, murmuring or the suchlike about ANY of the requirements, actions, church leaders or fellow members of the 400. Every problem will be handled in a BIBLICAL manner.
  • If you have a question or challenge to our teachings you MUST place it in writing along with the Biblical scriptural case for your disagreement. You must also be willing for your argument to be presented to the 400 and be debated and challenged by the leadership publicly. This is not meant to embarrass you but to force you to have a biblical foundation for your disagreement.
  • If you have a problem with another member of the 400 you will humbly bring it to their attention BEFORE speaking to anyone else about it. The purpose is to remove any division NOT to prove who is right. Again you must have a BIBLICAL foundation for your beliefs. If you have you scriptural evidence, you must humble yourself and let it go.

6) Submission

  • You will do EVERYTHING that is required of you whether you agree with it or not. If you disagree you must make you Biblical case in writing.

7) Worship

  • You will be actively and physically involved in corporate worship. You will be out of your seats and up front in the altar or in the isles if the altar is full (unless your serving job requires you to be elsewhere).

8) Time

  • You MUST be on time to EVERY MEETING. Tardiness will NOT be tolerated. This is one of the CORE values and requirements.
  • The doors will be LOCKED AT 5:30PM for the Sunday classes. If you are late you will NOT be allowed in. You will sit in the lobby and wait for prayer meeting at 7PM.
  • Late once is a warning, late twice is dismissal from the 400. Exceptions are made only for extreme circumstances; such as funerals, unexpected job requirements, vehicle breakdowns, etc. However, we do require that you do everything in your power to avoid these circumstances as every week of the 400 is VITALLY IMPORTANT.

9) Discipline

  • You are required to be disciplined in ALL your actions and responsibilities in and out of the 400. The 400 is an ELITE discipleship group that requires that you exhibit Godly character and discipline in every part of your life.

10) Transparency

  • You will be open and honest about your failures and shortcomings with one another.
  • You will not hide things or keep the hidden things of others from the leadership.

THE PURPOSE OF THE 400 IS TO CAUSE YOU TO GROW IN A VERY ACCELERATED PACE INTO THE MAN OR WOMAN GOD THAT YOU ARE CALLED TO BE

It may seem restrictive but these rules are designed to allow you to get the most out of this experience, and create the strongest spiritual environment for your explosive spiritual growth. Being part of the 400 is a PRIVELEDGE available only to those who are willing to count the cost and pay the price.

If you are interested in being apart of the next 400 group, we will be announcing dates for the 400 group 3 soon. If you have any questions feel free to call us at 817-898-0440.
